I (finally) Zumbaed

I’ve been meaning to try Zumba for awhile, and I finally made it to the gym in time to join a class Saturday morning, long long after most people interested have already tried it. (Arkie Mama is a HUGE fan, by the way)

For those of you haven’t tried it and are curious, if you’re uncomfortable shaking booty in front of strangers, dear friend, Zumba is not for you. There was a lot of flesh moving there.

Fortunately for me, the class I went to was packed with all sorts of people — young and old, large and super skinny, and even a pregnant lady and a couple of guys. It was fairly easy to blend right in and muddle my way through the steps, even without much guidance. And trust me, I’m no dance master.

The music was pretty fast-paced, and there was a short break in between each song. I think that helped the hour go by quickly. And I didn’t die by the end of it! I can see why people are so addicted to this. I’m definitely going to go back again.

You’re a brave mama!! I’m too chicken to shake my booty in front of anyone.

I’ve heard about you and water Zumba. Maybe we should go when it gets nice out again!

You should have seen the guys in the class shaking it to that song. Hilarious!

It really was! It was a little intimidating at first, but there was such a hot mess of people to look at that I realized I fit right in.
